Ethical issue -assignment

Ethical Issue Research Project

Your book has a series of Ethical Issues embedded within each chapter. There are a total of 27 Ethical Issues throughout the book. Go through the book and choose an Ethical Issue that you would like to research. Once you have chosen your Ethical Issue, you will need to do research on that topic and provide an analysis by describing what you found through your research as well as addressing key questions. Analysis will involve a written paper as well as a presentation. The following is how you should proceed in terms of your research and analysis:

Research

· Find at least 2 current news articles that relate to your Ethical Issue

· Articles should be from within the past year.

· If you are unable to find a current article, you must discuss this with me.

· Search reputable online news sources, as well as print sources.

· Find at least 1 historic news article/source that relates to your Ethical Issue

· Go back at least 10-20 years or more (sources within the last 9 years will not count for credit)

· Find out what has happened historically in relation to your Ethical Issue

· Wikipedia cannot be used as a source.

· Find at least 1 scholarly journal article that relates to your Ethical Issue

· At least one of these articles should be relatively recent (within the last 7 years)

Analysis – for paper and presentation

· Identify the chapter and the chapter title in which your Ethical Issue appears

· Identify your Ethical Issue by name and Explain why you chose it – Why did it interest you, etc.?

· Describe your Ethical Issue – You can write this out verbatim (cite the book)

· Identify and explain 2-3 specific concepts from the chapter that relate to your Ethical Issue

· Explanations of connections should be thorough

· Make your connections clear

· Describe each of your current news articles

· Provide the full citation for each article before discussing summary

· Provide a complete summary of each article

· Explain the relevance of these articles to your Ethical Issue

· Describe your historic news article/source

· Provide the full citation for article before discussing summary

· Provide a complete summary of article/source

· Explain the relevance of this article to your Ethical Issue

· Describe your scholarly journal articles

· Provide the full citation for article before discussing summary

· Provide a complete summary of article

· Explain the relevance of this article to your Ethical Issue

· Answer/address each of the following questions

· What are the ethical issues inherent in your Ethical Issue? Identify and explain at least 2

· Are there particular types of organizations that may be impacted by your topic? (i.e., certain industries, fields, etc.). Which types of organizations? Why?

· Provide support for your arguments

· Does your topic impact certain levels of an organization more than others?

· For example, are these Ethical Issues more likely to affect people at higher levels (e.g., CEO, CFO, President, VPs, etc.), middle levels (e.g., mid-level managers, project managers, mid-level supervisors, etc.), or lower levels (e.g., entry-level employees, hourly employees, etc.). Can they affect multiple levels? Explain.

· Provide support for your arguments

· Are particular groups impacted by your topic? Which groups? Why?

· Think in terms of gender; race; age; sexual orientation; people with disabilities

· Identify and explain how at least 2 of these groups may be impacted by your Ethical Issue

· Provide support for your arguments

· Discuss what you learned about your topic as a result of this project

Guidelines for Completing this Project

Paper

· The organization and structure of your paper should follow the same format as the analysis (described above)

· Provide relevant headings to delineate sections of your paper

· Paper should be 9-12 pages in length

· Paper should be submitted to the link provided on Blackboard (see our class Blackboard page)

· Paper should be complete (see guidelines above)

· At the end of the paper, include all links to your articles

Presentation

· Presentation should be organized in the same format as your paper

· You should have at least 1-2 slides per article

· You should have at least 1-2 slides per question

· In some cases you may have more

· Presentation should be 12-15 minutes in length

· Submit PowerPoint presentation slides to me via link provided on Blackboard
